Holi- the festival of colours is here!! Along with loving memories of Gulal, rain dancing, pichkaris and bhang, if you have frequent nightmares of skin and eye allergies or other serious problems due to the colours, this blog is for you. Below are some of the tips that will help you to tackle the unnecessary problems.
Use Natural Colours
Numerous kinds of colours are available in the market, but make sure you choose natural homemade colours. Ordinary colours are harsh against the skin and could damage your skin too. So, ensure that if natural colours or homemade colours are not possible, at least you use better quality of colours. Purchase colours from a reputed shop or vendor. Use more of red or pink colours which look good and can be easily removed.
Protect Your Body
Apply cream on your face before and after playing the holi. Wear thick coating of paint on your nails- both in fingers and toes so that they stay protected. Try to save yourself from all possible attacks on the face. In case, such attempts fail, keep your eyes and lips tightly closed if you are attacked on your face.
Oil Your Hair
Oil your hair well, so that colour doesn’t fix on your hair and can be washed off easily later. A head massage with lukewarm coconut oil, or a mixture of jojoba and castor oil the night before Holi would be very beneficial. This also nourishes your hair when they get dry due to harmful colours and helps in removing the colour effortlessly after you are done with festival celebrations. If possible, cover your hair with scarf or you can style them with bandana.
Protect Your Eyes
Make sure that powder or any other product does not get inside your eyes. Eyes are extremely exposed on Holi because of their strategic place in body and also due to the use of risky chemicals in colours these days. Please make sure that your eyes remain protected at all times. Use sunglasses to safeguard your eyes from colour filled darts or water jets.
Dress up Carefully
Put on your worst clothes so that you won’t have to take on the hassles of an immediate washing. Rags like tattered denims and bright shades are highly recommended. If you have a sensitive skin it is best to cover yourself as much as you can. Wear full-sleeved t-shirt or shirts that cover your arms fully. Flowing clothes and fabrics made of reactive material should be completely avoided in Holi.
The footwear
You also need to give attention to your footwear. Rubber bathroom or Hawaii chappals are typically recommended. Do not wear heels and leather footwear as they get soaked in water and may give in.
Avoid permanent Dyes
Do not use permanent dyes. If someone has applied it on you, do not wash the face with soap immediately in order to get rid of it, especially when it is wet. Instead, use good quality cleansing milk for removal. It’s better than using soap, which will dry up your skin.
With all these tips and suggestions make your holi most joyful and colorful
